binnu vs paolo, renaissance
The Series
Binnu VS Paolo is the name of a series of works dedicated to the evil and to man’s fears. The series depicts the fight between me (Paolo) and Binnu, alias Bernardo Provenzano, Mafia’s godfather recently arrested in Italy after more than 40 years on the run.
Every work depicts a single aspect of the evil: drugs, homicides, death, crimes.
It is a sort of struggle, a match between myself and the evil; soon I will fight other struggles, I will meet other enemies.
Technique
The works are realized on wooden panels with the ancient “buon fresco” on wet plaster technique, but with the modern methods of stencil-art: the photographs, most of all taken from report articles, have been digitally elaborated, in order to get an essential and expressive black and white image.
Then I print out the image and I perforate the paper along the lines of the cartoon drawing, leaving a visible trace on the plaster.
