Fuimos nosotros los culpables. De tanto ponerlo a prueba con nuestra impertinencia, de exigir, de tanto pretender siempre más, los que le dimos de comer al monstruo. Lo pulimos lentamente intentando quebrar barreras.
El monstruo aprendió a devorar y ahora asimila de una manera más rápida y efectiva. Fuimos los virus que construimos sus anticuerpos La cárcel se ha perfeccionado de tal manera que no llegamos a ver las rejas; nunca tuvimos tanto para elegir y nunca fuimos tan prisioneros. Ahora el límite es como la línea del horizonte y sin embargo seguimos buscando la salida. Tal vez el secreto haya sido siempre ese: hacer nuestro recorrido sin pensar en finales victoriosos.
O bien esa sea la prueba que hemos caído en la trampa.

We were the ones to blame. For putting it to the test so often with our impertinence, for demanding, for always expecting more, the ones who fed the monster. We polished it slowly trying to break barriers.
The monster learned to devour and now it assimilates in a quicker and more effective way. We were the viruses that built its antibodies. The prison has been so perfected that we can’t even see the bars; we never had so much to choose among and we never were so prisoners. Now, the limit is at the horizon line and nevertheless we keep on looking for the way out. Perhaps this has always been the secret: making our route without thinking in victorious endings.
Or that may be the proof that we have fallen into the trap.
