the myth of Narcissus and Echo
is seen as a metaphor
of the relationship between image and sound
Narcissus is obsessed by
the beauty of sound
itself that haunts him
in different ways.
The figure of nynph Echo
embodies the allegory of sound
The images reveal her change
into a disembodied voice
Narcissus tries in vain to
hold that primeval sonorous entity,
The clip closes with the nymph asleep in a forest
aroused by the sound of nature. Maybe everything
has just been dreamt.
